PRAYER WITH THE PASTOR - Please join us on Tuesdays at 6:30 a.m. in the Worship Center to pray for our church and our community.
SOFTBALL SEASON IS HERE! - Don’t forget that softball season has begun at Sugar Creek. If you are 18 or older and would like to come out and play make sure to pick up a game schedule at the information desk in the church lobby. Questions? Please contact Steve Chase (529-0559).
FLIP FLOPS FOR AFRICA - Rachelle Matthiesen is collecting flip-flops or shoes to send to the poverty stricken families in Africa who have never been able to afford shoes. Three quarters of Africa’ s population live in poverty and because of poor sanitation, millions of people who walk barefoot are affected by parasites which often enter the body through the feet and live in the small intestine. Prolonged exposure results in many health conditions including an immune system that no longer functions. Providing people with footwear drastically reduces the chances of transmission. Her goal is to collect 1,000 pairs of flip-flops/shoes. She is asking for your support and donations of any size new flip-flops or shoes. Any amount of shoes or monetary donations to purchase shoes is greatly appreciated and can be dropped off in the Flip-Flop/Shoe Drop Box located in the church lobby. With the help of your donation, the hands of Christ’s will serve thousands. Please contact Rachelle (email: achelle16@hotmail. com) or the church office if you have any questions.
Habitat for Humanity Build - YOU can HELP BUILD Debbie’s new home in 2009—whether it’s making a donation, volunteering to swing a hammer, making a meal for volunteers, donating labor or materials, and beyond! We are in need of volunteers to help build, provide food for volunteers and/or donations of water/Gatorade/soda. Crocodile Dock is filled with incredible Bible-learning that kids see, hear, touch and even taste! Crawfish Crafts, team-building Gator Games, Swamp Stock Music and Snacks at the Shack are just a few of the Crocodile Dock activities that help faith flow into real life. We’ll help kids see God in everyday life – something we call God Sightings. Get ready to hear that phrase a lot!
So mark these dates on your calendar July 19th thru July 24th. The fun starts at 6:15p.m and will end at 8:30 p.m. Watch the bulletin for more information on how to register for the fun at Crocodile Dock!
Remember those who defend our freedom. As military actions in Iraq and Afghanistan continue, it’s easy for those of us without immediate family members in the military to slip into compassion fatigue. While it’s true that many of our military personnel have rotated back to the US, for which we are deeply grateful, it’s also true that a number of other servicemen and servicewomen have been rotated back to Iraq and others are scheduled to returned there within the next month or so. Please pick up an updated military prayer list and continue to pray for these brave men and women and their families. If you have a service person in your family, please help us keep our list accurate and continue to supply us with copies of pictures, email, letters, etc. so that we can keep them in our hearts and minds and lift their name (and yours) to God.
