Doubt is not the Enemy of Faith

Everyone has doubts. Where is God when bad things happen? Does God hear our prayers? Is there a heaven? How can we know? Through this series, titled, Wrestling with Doubt, Finding Faith, by Adam Hamilton, our congregation will discover that doubts aren’t the enemy of faith, and uncertainty doesn’t mean our belief is lacking. Doubt can be a path to a deeper, richer encounter with God.

It is our prayer that this six-week worship and study series will bring the entire community of faith here at Sugar Creek together with the courage to ask tough questions, wrestle with doubt and find a life-giving faith built on belief and trust, not certainty, and divine mystery rather than simple answers.

For the six weeks during this series, our worship and study will center on the following themes:

  • Is There a God?
  • The Good Book?
  • Can we Wrestle with the Bible?
  • Are All Non-Christians Going to Hell?
  • Is Heaven Real?
  • Why do Some Prayers Go Unanswered?
  • Why Do the Innocent Suffer?

Wrestling with Doubt, Finding Faith Worship & Study Series begins with worship on Sunday, April 7, at 9AM and 11:00AM, and Pastor Paul’s Mid-Week Encounter small group study on Wednesday, April 10, at 10:00AM and 6:30PM. The series will continue for six weeks except for the week of May 5-11, as Pastor Paul is participating in the 5-Day Spiritual Academy retreat that week.

The Wrestling with Doubt, Finding Faith, Worship & Study Series is designed to reach people struggling with doubt – which includes all of us! It is meant to be accessible, making this series a perfect opportunity to invite visitors and newcomers by speaking to concerns that are especially relevant to them. Thus, this series offers a perfect opportunity for you to invite family members, friends, co-workers, and neighbors to worship and study with you!
