M&L Group Meeting July 29

The Men’s & Ladies’ Group have a special evening planned for Monday, July 29 at Sugar Creek UMC with special guest speaker Eric Dolbeare. Dinner of pulled pork & fixins’ with homemade ice cream for dessert will be provided.

Eric spent 18 months in Iraq as the senior agricultural advisor helping farmers improve infrastructure and adopt modern agriculture practices in the Fertile Crescent (between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers). This was a joint effort with the U.S. State Department and the military.

He also traveled to Zambia to lead an Illinois Rotary Vocational Training program. Where they worked with a group of farmers to not only improve their corn yields, but also educate them on modern practices. This corn-growing project has shown increasing yields in Africa for the last 6 years the project has been in operation.

Eric along with his wife Roberta farm in Nebo, Illinois and own a small retail store, Brookside Marketplace. They also serve their country as volunteers with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.
