Prayer Shawl Ministry

Prayer shawls have been made for centuries. They are universal and embracing, they comfort and enfold, wrap, shelter and hug. The prayer shawl ministry at Sugar Creek UMC has comforted more than 140 people since its inception in 2012.

This ministry combines the love of needlework with the love of reaching out to those in need of comfort or solace. Shawls have been given to those undergoing medical procedures, as a comfort after a loss, in times of stress, and in the celebration of child birth.

If someone you know would benefit in receiving a prayer shawl, let one of the Care Giving Team members or the church office know. May it remind them that they are surrounded by prayer of others and to be assured of God’s care and comfort.

If you are a gifted knitter or crocheter that would like to create a shawl for this ministry, Sugar Creek has been blessed with an abundance of yarn.
