The Mission of the Sugar Creek
United Methodist Church

…is to bring people to Jesus Christ through Worship, Connection, and Service. Together with the United Methodist Church universal, we are called to make disciples for Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. As the Church, we assist believers in experiencing God’s grace, God’s love, to grow in the grace and knowledge of God so we may live the life of a disciplined Christian.

Essentials of the Faith

Inspiration of the Bible

We believe the Bible is the “God Breathed” word. The text, scribed by humans, contains the mighty acts of God’s creation, guidance, and salvation.

Resurrection of Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ literally returned from the dead. Jesus died on the cross at Calvary, but three days later was both physically and spiritually risen from the dead on Easer.

The Triune God

We believe in One God in three persons; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The three separate and distinct persons as the One God – Equal in power and glory.

The Virgin Birth

We believe that Jesus’ earthly mother, Mary, was virgin at the time of conception, and conceived Christ by the agent of the Holy Spirit. At that moment, Christ’s body was spoken into existence.

Salvation through Christ

We believe there is no way for one to enter into eternal life except through the person and work of Jesus Christ. Jesus makes it clear that there is no other plan outside of himself for one’s salvation.

The Person
Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is fully human and fully divine (God). Although Christ’s humanity has a beginning, His divinity has always existed.

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is a member of the Godhead, the Triune God; and is eternal, all powerful, ever-present, and all knowing. The Holy Spirit is “God in us.”

Connecting others to Jesus

We believe we are called to live the Great Commandment: To love God and each other, and fulfill Christ’s Great Commission to go into all the world making disciples of Jesus Christ.
