Ball Chatham Child Care Update

On October 19th & 20th, eleven Sugar Creek volunteers provided child care to seventy-four children during the Parent/Teacher conferences. Over the two days (fifteen hours) the children were able to be dropped off in the cafeteria while their parent met with teachers for a quiet and quality conference. The children were able to color Halloween pictures or play with some simple games (Legos, etc.). All the parents thanked us for providing this opportunity to have a brief meeting with the teachers. Some teachers, the principal and assistant principal also stopped by to give thanks for this important service that we provided. They said that sometimes difficult conversations needed to be had with some of the parents without their child present.

A robo call was sent to parents in the district the prior Thursday to remind them of the conferences and it also stated that “the neighbors to the south, Sugar Creek Church would be providing childcare during conference times.” This was great advertisement for our church! We also took the opportunity when the parent(s) came in to pick up their children to tell them about our Trunk or Treat event on October 29th. Multiple parents put it on their phone calendars.

This was the third time (first since COVID) that this service was provided by Sugar Creek. Many thanks to our eleven volunteers!
